SpendLeak

Our story

I built this because I kept finding money walking out the door

SpendLeak started as a spreadsheet. A frustrated one.

I was doing the books for a small consultancy when I noticed something odd — we were paying for three different project management tools simultaneously. None of the directors knew. Each team had bought their own. The overlap was costing $600 a month and had been running for nearly a year.

I started keeping a spreadsheet of all the recurring charges. Then I wrote some Python to parse the bank exports automatically. Then a colleague asked if they could use it. Then another. Eventually the spreadsheet became a proper tool.

That tool is SpendLeak.

The problem we're solving

Australian small businesses collectively spend billions every year on software subscriptions alone. A significant portion of that is wasted — on tools that duplicate each other, subscriptions nobody uses, prices that crept up quietly, and annual renewals that caught everyone off-guard.

Most of the tools designed to help with this are built for enterprise. They require bank connections, IT setup, compliance reviews. They cost more per month than the leaks they'd find.

SpendLeak is different. Upload a CSV export from your bank or accounting software and you get your first findings in minutes. No bank connection. No annual contract. No IT team required.

What we believe

  • Simplicity is the product. If it takes a week to set up, it will never get used. SpendLeak should be useful within five minutes of landing on this page.
  • Your data belongs to you. We process your transactions to find findings. We don't sell your data, share it with third parties for marketing, or use it to train models.
  • Australian businesses deserve Australian-first tools. We understand local bank formats, local tax periods, and the way Australian businesses actually operate.
  • Honesty over hype. We'll tell you what we found and what we're not sure about. SpendLeak surfaces candidates — you make the decisions.
